Huntin' Gators on the Geaux: Gator Incognito | bonveillercher.com

We first found this Gator on the Geaux when leaving from 35 Years of Victor Monsour. I spotted her in the window of a business and added it to our long list of Gators on the Geaux!

Gator Incognito is inside Lake Charles Office Supply at 320 7th Street in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She’s decorated with Mardi Gras masks and even has a wig on! It was originally located at US Unwired, and the artist is Betty T. Breaux.

Southern Snapshot: Mary Ann’s Cafe Sign  0

Southern Snapshot: Mary Ann's Cafe Sign

Cotten’s Downtown had just so many interesting things! We also found the original Mary Ann’s Cafe sign hanging on the wall inside. I remember eating at Mary Ann’s Cafe in the mid-80’s when I was working in the downtown area. I loved their burgers and fries!

Do you remember Mary Ann’s Cafe? Have any special memories there or a favorite menu item? Please comment below or e-mail us at bonveillercher@gmail.com, so we can share your stories!

Huntin’ Gators on the Geaux: Local Lendagator Remastered  0

Huntin' Gators on the Geaux: Local Lendigator Remastered | bonveillercher.com

This Gator on the Geaux was one of the first we heard about as it was originally the Local Lendigator and stood outside First Federal Savings and Loan on 1135 Lake Shore Drive in Lake Charles, Louisiana. However, time and weather took its toll, so when we went to find him, we only saw the square of concrete where he had stood. But we were not discouraged! It was Sunday, so the bank (now First Federal Bank) was closed, but I snuck a peek through a window and could just make out a Gator on the Geaux head! So we added him back onto our list to visit during business hours.

Originally done by artist Susan Arnold Fuerst, from pictures it looks like this Gator on the Geaux had a mosaic pattern on its back and was a beautiful array of blues. It was redone by Fred Stark in 2015 and now is covered in paper money images with a large First Federal Bank logo on its chest. It also has a nice texture to it that makes it unique!Huntin' Gators on the Geaux: Local Lendigator Remastered | bonveillercher.com

Supporting the Flood Relief  0

Supporting the Flood Relief

With our love for our community and surrounding areas, we cannot ignore the recent disaster that befell many of our neighbors. While we were spared from the rising waters, many were left without homes, food, clothes, and everything else you can imagine. So when we heard about a local artist gathering goods and delivering them straight into the hands of those affected, we had to do what we could and donate.

Supporting the Flood Relief

We have been following Candace Alexander for sometime now. Not only is she a talented artist whose works can be found everywhere in Southwest Louisiana and beyond but she is also dedicated to giving back to the community that has always supported her. During the past few weeks she has loaded countless trucks and trailers and sent them on their way to Lake Arthur, Gonzales, Morse, and many other cities and towns affected by the flooding.

Supporting the Flood Relief

When we dropped off our donations the passion from Candace and Jade (from jaderbomb.com) was contagious! We would like to give a huge thanks to everything they have done and continue to do!

Do you have an individual or group who went above and beyond to help with the flood relief? We would love to share their story and give them some much deserved recognition! Please comment below or e-mail us at bonveillercher@gmail.com!
