I’m obsessed with flowers, so I am always so excited for our annual trip to the Forest Hill Nursery Festival each March. This was our third year going, but the festival is celebrating its 30th year. It’s a fundraiser for the firefighters of Forest Hill and along with all the beautiful nurseries in town there is a carnival, arts and crafts, food vendors, raffles, and much more!
Our first and favorite stop though is always Sam Stokes Nursery at 3347 Highway 112. We seem to always fill the back of my vehicle with vegetable plants and flowers. They have a great selection to choose from including seeds, baskets, fruit trees, rose bushes, and every kind of flower you can think of.
The staff is always very helpful and accommodating. This year I had the pleasure of meeting the owners’ daughter, Dana Stokes Lyles. She was very sweet, and you can see her in the picture ringing up our second round of purchases for the day.
This nursery is beautiful, and they have so much to choose from that I always have a hard time making my mind up. I do try to get something a little different each year, and this year it was daylilies! I couldn’t wait to get home and start filling up my flower pots with this year’s haul of flowers and plants. I even gave a few to my mother who was also excited for the additions to her porch.
Once we left Sam Stokes Nursery, we made a few other stops before wrapping up with buying me a Forest Hill Nursery Festival t-shirt. Then with our car full of plants we headed home. Till next year – can’t wait!!
